Manufacturing

The old model of low skilled workers and top down leadership has been changing to a more team based and self-directed approach with highly skilled technicians and data based decision making. Crew leaders and supervisors learned leadership from those that came before them and often have a difficult time shifting to the new demands of the modern manufacturing operation. Most supervisors are promoted to that position because they were highly skilled at their operations and are dedicated hard workers. That doesn’t give them the tools they need to be effective leaders.

In addition, to maximize productivity, each team in the plant needs to understand that the other teams are their internal customers, not problems to be rolled over. This requires an additional new approach to leadership beyond basic people skills.

Krieger Solutions, LLC has developed a comprehensive, multi-session leadership program designed to help front line leaders develop the skills and strategies they need to effectively lead their team in the modern workplace.

Topics include*:

  • Roles/responsibilities of leader and managers
  • Holding people constructively accountable – setting clear expectations
  • Motivating employees to high performance
  • Coaching and mentoring employees
  • Giving effective, constructive feedback
  • Dealing with conflict / difficult people
  • Leading / facilitating change
  • Evaluating performance
  • Counseling and discipline
  • Making effective use of time

  • We have conducted this comprehensive training for the entire management team of a facility, including the Plant manager.
  • We have provided executive briefings to senior leadership so they can support the learning of the line supervisors who go through the training.
  • We have developed a program that was designed to provide this training and build a leadership team among the crew leaders to help overcome the silo problem in the plant.
  • We have delivered a customized team building program to the entire staff of a facility that focused on communication skills to build better connections. This included increasing communication between employees and management, as well as between departments.
  • One company was undergoing a LEAN improvement process and was having trouble getting workers to collect the data needed to support the process. We designed a training program for supervisors to help them better engage their teams in this process and following the training, compliance increased significantly.
  • Any of the training programs we offer can be adapted to a manufacturing environment to address the specific issues you face.
