Healthcare
The health sector has undergone and continues to undergo tremendous change. This puts additional stress on leaders and staff. While a strong team is essential for success, many organizations suffer from competing silos – providers, nurses, and administrative staff all seeing the others as problems to deal with. Krieger Solutions, LLC has provided a wide range of services to help healthcare organizations better manage these changes. Programs include:
- A comprehensive multi-day leadership program provided to leaders in hospitals and health clinics. Some programs trained the entire top level leadership team of a hospital. This program addresses the core skills managers and supervisors need to effectively motivate and lead a successful work team. - Developing peer coaches at all levels of the organization to promote positive change in a hospital. The program we developed focused on helping hospitals better meet CMS Quality Measures. It was later adapted to address infection control strategies. It focuses on strategies staff can use to coach their peers to promote successful change, and can be tailored to any specific desired change process.
- Teaching nurses to be effective preceptors and/or clinical adjunct faculty. The program involves teaching master level nurses strategies for teaching, coaching, employee development, public speaking and advanced communication. It also includes time management strategies to help them better manage multiple priorities, and change management strategies to help them promote positive changes needed to improve their work with new nurses and nursing students.
- One hospital we worked with was trying to change a specific employee satisfaction measure that had been stuck in negative territory for several years. We developed a case study discussion process that the Human Resources staff could use to work with managers of units with the lowest scores. Rather than formal training, the HR staff were trained to lead the discussions and facilitate them to move the discussion from the case study to the managers’ units and develop insights and strategies to effect change. The customized case studies allowed for an in-depth, but non-defensive discussion about the issue.
- We have also offered webinars and one day programs on communication skills, dealing with difficult people, and time management to health related organizations. Any of the training programs we offer can be adapted to a heath care environment to address the specific issues you face.
